Severe Winter Weather To Affect The Region

November 23, 2014

(Undated)– A major late winter storm could dump in excess of a foot of snow on the region before it’s all said and done late Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a large portion of northwest Iowa, southeast South Dakota, and the southern tier of counties in southwest Minnesota.

Snow will continue to break out the rest of the afternoon and evening, and possibly become heavy tonight. Anywhere from 8 to 12 inches with possibly some heavier amounts can be expected across a wide swath of extreme northeast Nebraska, extreme southeast South Dakota, and into extreme northwest Iowa.

Travel will become increasingly difficult during the overnight hours.

The snow will also be driven by a strong northeast wind gusting at times in excess of 30 mph.
