Severe Weather Awareness Week For Iowa Is April 5-9

(Spirit Lake)– Severe Weather Awareness week kicks off today (Monday, April 5th) and runs through Friday, April 9th.

Each day is focusing on a specific severe weather topic. For example, Monday’s is flash flooding; Tuesday in warning reception; Wednesday is on tornados; Thursday is on severe thunderstorms and Friday’s topic is family preparedness.

One of the highlights of the week is the statewide tornado drill on Wednesday (April 7th). Sirens will sound at 10:10 a.m. (including those in Dickinson county). Homes, businesses, industries and schools are urged to participate in the drill.
