(Undated)– Sendoff ceremonies will be held Saturday for the Spencer and Estherville units of the 194th Battallion Field Artillery being called to active duty as part of Noble Eagle Two…a homeland security mission.
Ceremonies will be held at 8:00 a.m. in Estherville and 8:20 a.m. in Spencer.
The ceremony in Estherville will be held at the Christensen Center across from Iowa Lakes Community College. Several guest speakers will address the gathering. Red, white and blue balloons will be released afterward outside when the guard vehicles pass by the Christensen Center. One balloon will be released for each guard member being deployed.
In Spencer, residents are being urged to line the sidewalks from 18th street to the south intersection of Highways 18 and 71. Participants are urged to bring American flags.
