(Hartley)– Drug and weapons charges have been filed against seven people as the result of two search warrants executed on residences in Hartley.
Both warrants were executed around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday by officers of the Hartley, Sanborn and Spencer Police Departments and the O’Brien and Clay County Sheriff’s offices.
One of the searches was conducted at 241 North first avenue east in Hartley. Officers at that location seized a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 37-year-old Kelly Perkins and a 17-year-old male juvenile were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Perkins was taken to the O’Brien county jail and was released on her own recognizance. The juvenile was placed in a detention facility.
The other search took place at 241 North Central Avenue in Hartley. Officers at that location seized a large amount of drug paraphernalia and three shotguns.
Several individuals were arrested at that location including 31-year-old Doug Nielsen who was charged with being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia and keeping a dwelling for drug use or sales. Nielsen was released on bond after appearing before a magistrate.
Also arrested were 24-year-old April Lynn Anderson, 20-year-old Joshua Burger, 21-year-old Charles Herbert Fear and 25 year-old Joshua Leth. They were all charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and keeping a dwelling for drug use or sales. They were all released after posting bond or on their own recognizance.
Authorities say an investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.
