(Okoboji)– Crews are searching for a missing boater on West Lake Okoboji.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say the man apparently jumped into the water from a boat early Sunday afternoon to retrieve a hat that had blown into the lake.
Officials say the man was not wearing a life jacket. His wife and two children were in the boat.
Authorities have not released the man’s name pending notification of relatives.
The search for the missing man was suspended for the night around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. It resumed at 6:00 a.m. this (Monday) morning.
Crews have been concentrating their search on an area off of Pikes Point.
