(Spirit Lake)– Five people were arrested Tuesday afternoon as the result of a search warrant executed on a Spirit Lake apartment.
Police say the search was conducted around 1:20 p.m. at apartment E-8 at Valley View Apartments in Spirit Lake.
Authorities say about a half pound of marijuana was seized with a street value of about 1,400-dollars. Two children ages 20 months and five months old, were also located and subsequently removed from the residence. They’ve been turned over to family members.
Among those arrested was 20-year-old Nicholas Griffin of Chicago who was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver…a class “D” felony; a drug tax stamp violation…a class “D” felony; and keeping a dwelling for the purpose of selling controlled substances…an aggravated misdemeanor.
20-year-old Haley Hansen of Spirit Lake was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver…a class “D” felony; a drug tax stamp violation…also a class “D” felony; child endangerment…an aggravated misdemeanor; and keeping a dwelling for the purpose of keeping or selling controlled substances…an aggravated misdemeanor.
19-year-old Omasan Mcarthy of Chicago was charged with posession of marijuana with intent to deliver…a class “D” felony; a drug tax stamp violation…a class “D” felony; and keeping a dwelling for the purpose of selling a controlled substance…an aggravated misdemeanor.
18-year-old Ashley Rebuhn of Spirit Lake was charged with child endangerment…an aggravated misemeanor; and frequenting a disorderly house.
And 21-year-old Vincent Ivory, Junior of Spirit Lake was charged with child engangerment…an aggravated misdemeanor; and frequenting a disorderly house.
All five were booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Authorities say the apartment is within a thousand feet of a school, which may enhance the penalty.
Spirit Lake police and the department’s canine unit were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Human Services.
Authorities say Valley View management cooperated in the investigation.
