(Spencer)– Repairs to a railroad crossing will result in the closure of Highway 18 west of Spencer from 9:00 a.m. this coming Monday, August 30th, until Noon Saturday, September 4th…weather permitting.
That word from the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Spencer garage. Motorists will be detoured around the work zone.
On another note, Highway 18 in Spencer will be reduced to one lane in both directions between 8th Street and 17th Street to allow for some work to take place in the median. A 12-foot width lane restriction is in place.
Motorists should drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area and be aware that fines for moving violations are atleast double in work zones.
Drivers should also stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seatbelts.
