Round The Clock Power Restoration Efforts Continue

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Crews continue to make progress today (Monday) in restoring power following Saturday night’s violent storm.

Scott Drzycimski is with the Communications Department at Alliant Energy. He tells KUOO news that at the height of the storm, about 7,300 of their customers in the area were without power. As of 11:00 a.m. this (Mon.) morning, that had been reduced to around 250. Drzycimski says about half of those were in the Lake Park area. He says poles had to be replaced before lines could be put back up in that area.

Drzycimski says the damage to Alliant Energy’s distribution system in Dickinson county was rather extensive, adding it appears there was no one area that was harder hit than another.

He says crews have been working around the clock ever since the storm hit. Drzycimski says nearly every crew from their northwest Iowa service center has been deployed, along with additional crews from Minnesota and elsewhere that were called in, along with some contract crews. He says each crew works a 16-hour shift before being put on rest.

Drzycimski says all Alliant customers should have service restored by late today (Monday). Anyone that still does not have power by late afternoon should call 800 Alliant to report it.
