(Arnolds Park)– A special exhibit of Buddy Holly memorabilia will be on display Winter Games weekend at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museum in Arnolds Park.
Doris Welle, Executive Director of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museum, tells KUOO news the display will be there Friday through Sunday, January 30th through February 1st.
Welle says the exhibit will be in conjunction with the 45th anniversary of a plane crash in northern Iowa that killed Holly, Richie Valens and the pilot, Roger Peterson of Storm Lake.
Welle says the display, owned by George and Midge Horton of Vining, Iowa, consists of Holly’s baby picture, a wedding photo, school yearbook, and some of Holly’s albums that were only released in Europe that Americans never saw.
Welle says the Hortons have been collecting the memorabilia since 1952.
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museum will be open that Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.
