(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake city councilman is upset over cell phones ringing during meetings.
Kevin Bice instructed city staff to put the matter on the agenda for the next council meeting, expressing frustration over two cell-phone interruptions at Tuesday’s city council meeting. In one instance, a crowd member even answered her phone and started a conversation as the city council was trying to hold a public hearing. Mayor Eric Nielsen asked the woman to leave the room. She abruptly ended her conversation.
Bice says he would like to see the council adopt a resolution that would require cell phones be shut off before entering council chambers.
Bice added Tuesday’s council meeting wasn’t the first one that was interrupted by ringing cell phones.
