(Spencer)– The Regional Transit Authority, or RIDES, has been awarded 40-thousand dollars through the Federal Transit Administration’s Transit Capital Investment Program.
The program provides funding assistance for new and replacement buses and facilities, passenger amenities and accessory and miscellaneous equipment.
A total of 4.3 million dollars in grant funding was awarded to the Iowa Department of Transportation to support 24 transit agencies in the state.
The 40-thousand dollars awarded to RIDES will be used for security technology.
RIDES serves Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto and Sioux counties.
