Retiring Judge To Be Honored

(Spencer)– A reception honoring retiring District Judge Frank Nelson will be held Friday, December 19th from 2:00 until 4:30 p.m. at the Clay county courthouse in Spencer.

Nelson is retiring as full-time District Judge effective December 31st. Governor Tom Vilsack has appointed Spencer attorney Nancy Whittenburg to replace him.

Judge Nelson was born in Ringsted and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State in 1954. He served in the U-S Army until 1956. Following that he went to Law School at the University of Iowa. After graduating in 1959 he went into general practice until 1988. Judge Nelson belongs to the Iowa State and American Bar Associations and the Iowa Judges Association.
