Retired Spencer Dentist Receives Jack Wedel Award

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A retired Spencer dentist has been named the 2003 recipient of the Jack Wedel Award.

The Spencer Chamber of Commerce presented the award to Mike Fideler at its annual banquet Monday evening.

Fideler says he was truly surprised when his name was announced as this year’s winner.

The award, in memory of former Spencer resident Jack Wedel, has been handed out each year since 1982 to the person in the Spencer community that displays the true meaning of community service.

Fideler says his love of Spencer is why he puts so many hours into helping the community. He says it wasn’t until after his retirement that he started volunteering on a regular basis.

Fideler has served on the Chamber board for several years, is a past member of the Spencer Area Arts Council Board of Directors, spends many hours volunteering for Arts on Grand in Spencer, and serves as a Clay county PAL.
