(Okoboji)– Next June’s primary election is still a long way off…but already things are starting to heat up…especially among the republican candidates for Iowa governor.
Steve Sukup, a state lawmaker from Sheffield, and Bob Vanderplaats, a Sioux City businessman, are knocking heads for the republican nomination.
Speaking at a gathering of republican faithfuls last night in Okoboji, Vanderplaats said he feels Sukup is vulnerable because of his stint in the legislature. Sukup told the crowd many past governors had prior experience in the legislature and that it actually worked to their advantage.
Republican candidates for U-S House and Senate, State Senate and State Treasurer were also on hand for last night’s event.
