Report: E’Burg Casino Proposals Have Least Income Potential

November 22, 2014

(Council Bluffs)– A new report shows casino proposals in Waterloo and Riverside, south of Iowa City, offer the best potential to make money, while those in Emmetsburg have the least potential.

The study was done for the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

The commission is expected to make a decision next month on requests for ten casino licenses in seven communities.

The study was done by a consulting group to look at the state’s casino market–both the past and the future.

Commission spokesman Jack Ketterer says the report is a valuable tool, but he doesn’t believe it’ll sway state regulators in approving or rejecting any of the proposals.

There are three proposed casinos in Waterloo and two in Emmetsburg. The others are in Riverside, Fort Dodge, Ottumwa, Worth county and Franklin county.
