(Spirit Lake)– Motorists throughout the region are having to reacquaint themselves with winter driving techniques this (Mon.) morning.
The first winter storm of the season has descended upon the region…depositing freezing rain and sleet on the Iowa Great Lakes Area.
Just to the north and west, in places like Worthington and Luverne, Minnesota and Sioux Falls, S.D., snow has been falling. Many reporting stations in those areas have two inches of the white stuff on the ground…and it was still coming down at mid-morning.
Freezing rain in the Iowa Great Lakes Area is expected to turn to just plain rain later this afternoon as temperatures are expected to warm a few degrees above freezing.
More rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow is in the forecast for tonight and Tuesday.
