Region Continues To Bask In Unseasonably Warm Temperatures; Snow Was On The Ground Already A Year Ago

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Oh what a difference a year can make around here in the weather department.

A year ago this time 70 and 80 degree temperatures were unheard of. That certainly isn’t the case this fall, as we’ve already experienced record high temperatures on atleast a couple of days.

That contrasts sharply with what was going on just a year ago around here when we had a trace of snow on the ground. The high temperature October 11th, 2009 was only 37 degrees, while the low was 27. Compare that exactly one year later with our predicted high today (Mon. 10/11) of nearly 80 and an overnight low this (Mon.) morning of 52 degrees.

A year ago tomorrow (Tues. 10/12/09) we had our first measurable snowfall of the 2009-2010 season of 1.3 inches here at the KUOO studios.

While a cool down is in the forecast by midweek, the National Weather Service says we can expect a return to above normal temperatures late in the week.
