Recount Likely In House District 7 Race

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Officials with the Iowa Republican party are requesting a recount of Tuesday’s election results in the race for Iowa House District 7 comprised of Emmet, Palo Alto and a portion of Kossuth county.

Unofficial results late Tuesday night showed Democrat John Wittneben with 5,130 votes and Republican Lannie Miller with 5,092.

The two men were running for the seat vacated by Marcie Frevert of Emmetsburg who did not seek re-election.

The board of supervisors in the three counties will canvass the results this Tuesday.

Under Iowa law, a candidate may request a recount without paying a bond if final canvass results show less than a one percent difference between the candidates.
