(Emmetsburg)– An Emmetsburg teen faces charges in connection with a short pursuit and crash last Friday.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic stop. But instead of stopping, the 17-year-old driver led the deputy on a short pursuit that ended with the vehicle going into the ditch. The driver, who wasn’t injured, then got out and was caught on foot a short distance from the vehicle.
The male juvenile, who’s name wasn’t released, was charged with eluding law enforcement, driving while revoked and failure to prove security against a liability.
He was issued a juvenile referral and was released to his parents.
The incident took place shortly before 7:00 p.m.
