Pure Fishing Looks To Expand Its Product Line

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Another major employer in the Iowa Great Lakes may soon be adding to its workforce.

The Spirit Lake City Council Tuesday approved the city’s participation in an incentive package being put together for Pure Fishing. The company wants to start up a new product line at its Spirit Lake plant. It would bring 13 new jobs over the next several years.

City Administrator Pete Hegeman says they’re applying for a grant through the Department of Economic Development’s Community Economic Bettermen Account, or CEBA. If the grant is awarded, Hegeman says the state would provide 75-thousand dollars; the city would contribute 30,000-dollars; Iowa Lakes Community College would provide jobs training programs to the tune of 20,000-dollars; and the company would contribute 3,630,000-dollars.

Hegeman says the company hasn’t said just what the new product offering would be. He says there would be no physical expansion of the plant, but new equipment would be added.
