(Spirit Lake)– A preliminary design for improvements to War Eagle Boulevard in the Triboji Beach area is drawing some controversy.
A public hearing on the proposed plans was held at Tuesday’s Dickinson County Board of Supervisors meeting.
Preliminary plans call for a street with a 20 mile-per-hour speed limit, three foot ditches on each side, and a granular surface at an estimated cost of between 20-thousand and 25-thousand dollars. Plans also call for the grade of the road to be raised by two to three feet in the lowest areas. Some residents expressed concern over the ditches and grade increase. One even said he wants the project abandoned. Others, though, said they want atleast limited improvements to the road.
The supervisors took the comments under advisement. Residents have 10 days from Tuesday (10/24) in which to submit written comments. The supervisors will then decide where to go from there.
