(Spirit Lake)– If you live in Spirit Lake and there are campaign signs missing from your yard, chances are they were NOT stolen. They were taken by the city because they were on public right-of-way…a violation of city code.
Spirit Lake police say officers picked up 96 of the signs Wednesday night, along with some real estate signs.
The signs can be picked up behind city hall. If you put them back in your yard though you’d better make sure they’re atleast 10 feet away from the curb…or the city says they’ll be missing again.
City officials announced earlier this month they’d be cracking down on improperly placed signs. Residents were given a grace period to get them moved. Those who didn’t relocate them woke up this (Thurs.) morning to find them gone.
