(Spirit Lake)– Portions of the lakes area were in the dark awhile this (Sat.) morning when some power lines fell after a pole caught on fire.
The incident took place on a pole along Highway 71 near the Wild Rose Bed and Breakfast in Spirit Lake. It resulted in a power outage that lasted more than an hour in some areas on the southwest side of Spirit Lake and along County Farm Road.
Highway 71 was closed to traffic in that area for about 20 minutes while crews removed the line.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to the scene to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were there about a half hour.
No injuries were reported.
