(St. Paul, Mn.)– Polaris Industries has selected Wyoming, Minnesota as the site for a new 25 million dollar facility that will house engineers, technicians and lab personnel for its all-terrain-vehicles, personal watercraft and Victory Motorcycles. Construction on the 100-thousand square foot facility is to start next year with completion slated for 2005.
Although Polaris has a manufacturing plant in Spirit Lake, Chad Shryock, Executive Director of the Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity, says the local area was never in the running for the engineering facility, which will eventually employ 100 people.
Mark Karl, Plant Manager of the Spirit Lake Polaris Industries plant, says 18 personal watercraft engineers currently located here will be transferred to the new facility probably sometime in 2005. Karl says it will free up some badly needed office space to support the local manufacturing operations.
A 33-thousand square foot addition was built onto the Spirit Lake plant this past year. And Karl says they’re very optimistic over the possibility of even more manufacturing jobs being added locally sometime in the future.
The Spirit Lake Polaris Industries Plant currently employs about 580 people.
