Pioneer Day Parade Grand Marshalls Selected

(Milford)– The Milford Commercial Club has announced John and Mary Adams have been selected as this year’s Grand Marshalls for the Pioneer Day parade.

The Adams have lived in Milford since 1967. They moved to Arnolds Park in 2000.

The couple founded the Lakes News Shopper in 1973, owning it until 2007 when they sold it to their son, John Junior and his wife Michelle.

The Adams are very active in their church. Mary also serves on the board of directors of ECHO Plus. John serves on the Arnolds Park city council and the board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park Incorporated. He is a founding board member of Dickinson County Pheasants Forever and served as President of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce from 1993 to 1994 and as a board member of the chamber the prior six years. John is currently Chairman of the Dickinson County Republican Party.

The Adams have three children and six grandchildren.

This year’s Pioneer Day parade will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24th and will feature more than 100 units. Registration forms are available at the St. Joseph Catholic Church office or on line at www.milford.ia.us. Click on the Pioneer Day parade link.
