(Graettinger)– Two people were injured in a crash Thursday evening involving a pickup and a motorcycle near Graettinger.
The Iowa State Patrol says 37-year-old Shawn Schany of Graettinger was operating a motorcycle southbound on River Road when he crossed the center line and collided with a pickup driven by 34-year-old Gerald Fay of Graettinger.
Schany and a passenger on the motorcycle he was driving, seven-year-old Nicholas Schany, were transported to a Mason City hospital. Shawn Schany sustained compound fractures; the extent of Nicholas Schany’s injuries wasn’t known. No injuries were reported to Fay.
Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the motorcycle driven by Schany; the pickup driven by Fay sustained an estimated two thousand dollars in damage.
The mishap took place around 6:40 p.m. about two miles south of Graettinger.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and the Graettinger Ambulance.
