Pickup Crash Claims Life Of Curlew Man

November 23, 2014

(West Bend)– A one vehicle accident Saturday in Palo Alto has claimed the life of a Curlew man.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office identifies the victim as 53-year-old James Thompson, who was alone in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Thompson was driving a 1984 Ford Ranger pickup that collided with a utility pole. The pickup was a total loss.

The accident was discovered by a crew with Corn Belt Power Cooperative, which was responding to a power outage between West Bend and Mallard that was caused by the crash.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the West Bend Fire Department.

Authorities say the mishap remains under investigation.
