(Sioux City)– Things are quickly going from bad to worse for county Clerk of Court offices in Iowa as the result of state budget cuts.
Leesa McNeal, Court Administrator for the third judicial district of northwest Iowa, says reductions in personnel were made Monday. In Dickinson county, two staff people lost their jobs; another had their hours cut; and still another was demoted.
Because of a huge workload and fewer workers, McNeal says the hours the offices are open to the public will be reduced. The office in Dickinson county will be closed to the public on Wednesdays beginning December 10th. Effective that same day, the offices will be opening an hour later…at 9:00 a.m. The 4:30 p.m. closing time will stay the same.
The Iowa Supreme Court is still taking written comments on a proposal to consolidate the state’s 99 clerk of court offices…reducing them to 28.
