November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Palo Alto county’s Naturalist was injured earlier this week when a vehicle she was driving collided with a semi tractor/trailer at the intersection of Highways 18 and four west of Emmetsburg.

The Iowa State Patrol says 43-year-old Miriam Patton of Hartley was eastbound on Highway 18 when she collided with the rear of the semi tractor/trailer that was attempting to turn north onto Highway four.

Patton was taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital where she was treated for a broken ankle.

The driver of the semi tractor/trailer, 38-year-old Curtis Ramirez of Fort Dodge, wasn’t injured.

About 10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to both vehicles.

Authorities say the mishap took place around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.
