OWI/Weapons/Drug Charges Filed Against Terril Man

(Spirit Lake)– Drug charges have been filed against a Terril man pulled over by Spirit Lake police late last (Friday) night for drunken driving.

Police say they stopped a black and silver suburban on 28th Street East of Denver Avenue around 11:30 p.m. The driver, 36-year-old John Maynard Meyer of Terril, was arrested and charged with third offense operating while intoxicated, a class “D” felony.

Authorities say a subsequent search of the vehicle involving the Spirit Lake Police Department’s Canine “Rambo” led to the discovery of a substance alleged to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Meyer was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver; possession of a firearm, a class “D” felony; possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, also a class “D” felony; carrying weapons in a weapons-free zone; possession of a controlled substance-marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia and prohibited acts.

The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the Okoboji Police Department.
