(Spirit Lake)– A public hearing on a proposal to form a drainage district in the city of Orleans that was continued to tomorrow (Tues.) will likely be continued again.
The initial hearing was held at the April 20th meeting of the Dickinson county board of supervisors. It went on for more than two and-a-half hours, only to wind up being continued to 11:00 a.m. tomorrow (Tues.).
And now supervisors say it’s their understanding the hearing Tuesday will convene just long enough to be continued one more time to give engineers more time to come up with revised plans.
The proposed district would consist of 43 acres of land. The project would consist in part of a detention basin near the Orleans city hall along with a 24 inch storm sewer that would go from the basin to Big Spirit Lake.
As it’s currently proposed, the project would have an estimated cost of 370-thousand dollars which would be assessed against landowners in the district.
