Opposition Surfaces To Proposed High Voltage Line In Jackson

November 22, 2014

(Jackson, Mn.)– Plans by Xcel Energy to run a high voltage transmission line through Jackson are running into opposition from city officials.

The city council Tuesday adopted a resolution opposing the proposed route of the line, siting concern over electromagnetic fields and the effects it could have on communication systems at the nearby airport and cable t.v. tower.

The line is being proposed for the city’s north side just south of Interstate 90. It would be connected with a substation Xcel wants to build in that same area.

The company has scheduled public informational meetings on the proposal for 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 15th at the Econo Lodge in Jackson.
