Ongoing Clay Co. Narcotics Investigation Nets More Arrests

(Spencer)– Clay county authorities say they made more arrests this past week in their ongoing narcotics crackdown.

The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy stopped a vehicle shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14th on Highway 71 north in Fostoria that resulted in drug charges against a Nebraska couple.

Authorities say the deputy pulled over the vehicle for excessive speed…92 miles-per-hour in a 65 mile-per-hour zone. After stopping the vehicle, the deputy detected the odor of alcoholic beverages and found open containers of beer. A further investigation led to the discovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

35-year-old Lorne Coulson and 38-year-old Deborah Coulson, both of La Vista, Nebraska were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lorne Coulson was also cited for speeding and Deborah Coulson received a citiation for having an open container of alcohol.

Both were transported to the Clay county jail.

A third person in the vehicle, Barbara Russell of La Vista, Nebraska was released after the deputy determined she had no involvement in the narcotics activities.

Authorities add a sum of cash was seized from the Coulson’s and procedures for forfeiting the money were initiated.
