(Jackson, Mn.)– The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash late Sunday on 480th Avenue a little more than a mile north of the Iowa/Minnesota border.
Authorities say 18-year-old Micah Gregory of Jackson was northbound when he encountered a deer on the road. Gregory took evasive action to avoid hitting the animal, causing him to lose control of a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. The vehicle left the road and went into the west ditch coming to rest on its top.
Two passengers reported minor injuries. They’re identified as 19-year-old Perian Goranson of Jackson and 18-year-old Cody Schubert, also of Jackson. No injuries were reported to a third passenger, 18-year-old Lindsay Smith of Estherville.
Moderate damage was reported to the vehicle.
The mishap took place shortly before midnight Sunday. It remains under investigation.
