Okoboji Underwater Search & Rescue Recovers Drowning Victim

(Storm Lake)– Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue divers have recovered the body of a teenager presumed to have drowned over the weekend in Storm Lake.

The victim is identified as 18-year-old Luis Zaragoza of Storm Lake.

Buena Vista county authorities say they were called to a report of an over-turned raft and a person in the water at 5:42 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say upon arriving at the scene they were told the person had gone under. A massive search got underway. The Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue Team was eventually called for assistance. The team’s divers recovered the body shortly before 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

An investigation continues by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and the county medical examiner.
