(Okoboji)– Another lakes area community has set the date for its annual spring clean-up.
The city of Okoboji has set June 7th as the date, with the event being held that one day only.
City officials say the day is intended to pick up items not normally picked up for regular garbage collection and is for residential customers only.
Residents are asked to limit the weight of items and to have the items at the curb before the designated day. All planks and boards must be cut not to exceed six feet in length.
There will no longer be free pick up of white goods…or appliances; brown goods…or electronics; televisions, furniture, care tires or truck and tractor tires. Tags must be purchased for those items during regular office hours at city hall. They’re available year-round, not just during clean-up day.
Okoboji residents are also reminded the city has started collecting yard waste on Wednesdays…weather permitting. Residents are asked to use clear bags if possible, but crews will still collect yard landscape waste as long as it is bagged, boxed or canned. Branches should be limited to two inches in diameter, not longer than four feet in length and 75 pounds in weight.
Anyone with questions should contact Okoboji city hall.
