Okoboji Man Faces Charges In Two-State Pursuit

(Sibley)– An Okoboji man faces charges in three counties and two states following a pursuit Monday.

Authorities say the chase started in Union county, South Dakota and proceeded east into Iowa. 18-year-old Andrew Mitchell of Okoboji was arrested by Osceola county sheriff’s deputies who finally managed to stop him near the intersection of highways nine and 60 near Sibley.

Mitchell was charged with eluding…a class “D” felony; reckless driving…a simple misdemeanor; and failure to wear a seat belt.

Mitchell was taken to the Osceola county jail. Bond was set at 20,150-dollars.

Authorities say additional charges are pending against Mitchell in Lyon county and Union county, South Dakota.
