(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation has a new President.
Ann Fitzgibbons, Foundation Chair, announced today (Wednesday) Mary Freiborg was elected to the position by the foundation’s board of directors March 22nd and began her new role April 30th.
Freiborg tells KUOO news her immediate goal is to increase the viability and visibility of the foundation, making the community more aware of the resources they can provide. She says they want to be known as the centerpoint for philanthropic investment. By doing that Freiborg says the foundation will be living up to its motto “sending ripples of good throughout the Iowa Great Lakes Region”.
Freiborg adds she wants to make visitors to the region more aware of the foundation as well.
Freiborg and her husband, Arlie, live on Big Spirit Lake.
Prior to becoming President of the Okoboji Foundation Freiborg served the past four years as Institutional Advancement Officer/Foundation Executive Director at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls. She also has nine years of experience in development and leadership at South Central Community and Technical College in Mankato and Faribault, Minnesota and has served as Executive Director of the Rochester Community Technical College Foundation.
The Okoboji Foundation has awarded more than two million dollars in grants to non-profit organizations to support capital special projects since 1989.
