(Okoboji)– Okoboji residents could be paying more in taxes in the upcoming fiscal year.
The city council earlier this week reviewed a proposed budget that would have a general fund levy of $2.70 per thousand dollars valuation with a debt service levy of $2.23 per thousand…putting the total levy at about $4.94 per thousand dollars valuation. That’s up about 41 cents from the current levy.
Daly attributes two factors to the increase: the fact that valuations didn’t go up as much this year; and an increase in debt service.
Daly says a public hearing on the proposed budget will probably be held in late February or early March.
The city council met earlier this week to review the numbers.
