(Okoboji)– There was renewed discussion about the possibility of constructing a new city maintenance building at Tuesday’s Okoboji City Council meeting.
City Administrator Dennis Daly says funding would come from a refinancing of existing bonds and extending an existing Tax Increment Finance District to include Spier Park…proposed site of the new building.
Daly says it’s still too early to get a good handle on how much the project might cost. He says a lot of exploratory work needs to be done to see how it would fit in the park, and any restrictions the Federal Aviation Administration may have due to the proximity of the Spirit Lake Airport.
Daly says building a new facility would be more economical than remodeling the existing maintenance building behind the old city hall/Police Department.
The city has hired Beck Engineering of Spirit Lake to do the study and preliminary site plan.
