(Primghar)– The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a male transient on burglary charges.
Jesus Rivera…address unknown…has been charged with burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony.
O’Brien county authorities say they received a report of a burglary from a rural Germantown resident. Coins, clothes, electronics and miscellaneous personal items were reported missing. Witnesses described a man fitting Rivera’s description walking in the Germantown area roughly the same time as when the burglaries took place.
On Monday, June 27th, authorities say employees of a Granville bank contacted them when Rivera attempted to cash in a substantial amount of coins for paper currency. A Sioux county sheriff’s deputy responded and detained Rivera for questioning by O’Brien county authorities. Deputies recovered numerous items that had allegedly been stolen on Rivera’s person.
On Monday (June 27th) O’Brien county authorities received a second burglary complaint from the rural Germantown area. Coins, food and beer reported missing.
Rivera has been charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree and booked into the O’Brien county jail. Rivera has made an initial appearance before Magistrate Jeffrey Queck who set bond at 9,750-dollars on each count, totalling 19,500-dollars cash or surety.
The INS has also placed a detainer of Rivera due to his status as an illegal alien.
