(Germantown)– A northwest Iowa farmer got more than what he was bargaining for while harvesting corn recently.
Fred Schuknecht of Paullina was harvesting corn near Germantown last week when he says he saw something coiled up between two rows of corn. At first he thought it was a tire and poked it with the combine. Then he got a closer look and saw it move. Turns out it was an 11-foot Python Snake. Schuknecht put the snake in a box and took it to town. He called the local Department of Natural Resources office, which took the snake to a reptile nature center in Ames.
Schuknecht found out later the snake belongs to a man who lives less than a mile from where the snake was found. The snake got away from its owner in July.
