NW Iowa Down Syndrome Society To Put On Seminar

(Spencer)– Healthcare for children with Down Syndrome will be the topic of an event Sunday, August 29th from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer.

Scott Hallgren, President of the Northwest Iowa Down Syndrome Society, says it will be a great time to nearn and connect with other familes with Down Syndrome or other developmental disabilities.

Keynote speakers will include Quinn Stein, Coordinator and Founder of the Down Syndrome Clinic at Sanford’s Children Hospital in Sioux Falls; Barbara Wilkerson, Health Service Coordinator for the Child Health Specialty Clinic’s Regional Office in Spencer; and Tara Rochleau, Nurse Educator at Iowa Lakes Community College who is the mother of a son with Down Syndrome.

The Northwest Iowa Down Syndrome Society is an organization dedicated to the education and support of people in northwest Iowa touched by Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities. The Northwest Iowa Down Syndrome Society started in the spring of 2006 as a group of families who have the common bond of a child with Down Syndrome.

The local chapter is affililated with the National Down Syndrome Society and the National Down Syndrome Congress.
