Noise Complaint Leads To Drug Charges Against Four People

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– What started off as a noise complaint at a Spencer apartment has resulted in drug charges against four people.

Spencer police say it stems from a noise complaint they received around 9:30 p.m. Sunday from an apartment at 120 West Sixth Street.

Upon arriving officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the apartment. They obtained and executed a search warrant on the residence. Authorities say they found substances alleged to be marijuana and methamphetamine along with paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash.

27-year-old Jalem Grome was charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana and methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia and gatherings where a controlled substance is used.

19-year-old Gabriel Ginger of Spencer was charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

22-year-old Joshua DeBoer was charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…with intent to deliver within a thousand feet of a school; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also charged was a 17-year-old male juvenile. He was cited for possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…and was released to the custody of his parents pending referral to juvenile court services.

The other three were booked into the Clay county jail. Bond for Ginger was set at 2,275-dollars; 10,075-dollars for DeBoer and 32,175-dollars for Grome.

All are from Spencer.

Authorities say the apartment was being rented by Grome.
