No Injuries Reported In Truck Fire On East Edge Of Spirit Lake

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported this (Tues.) morning in a truck fire on the east edge of Spirit Lake.

Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says firefighters were called to the intersection of Highways nine and 71 and county road M-56 around 7:30 a.m. He says the engine compartment of a truck owned by Wedeking Construction had caught on fire. Jorgenson says the driver got out uninjured and had put out most of the fire with a fire extinguisher by the time firefighters arrived.

Jorgenson says the fire was the result of a backfire that went up through the carburator into the air filter. Damage was contained to the engine compartment.

Spirit Lake firefighters were on the scene about 15 minutes.
