(Orleans)– No injuries were reported when a train derailed Thursday evening in Orleans.
Authorities now say the lead car of a four-car Iowa Northwestern train left the tracks as the cars were being pushed eastbound. The derailment took place just west of the Hill Avenue crossing near the Gingham Inn.
The cause wasn’t immediately known. Officials say there was a considerable amount of snow and ice on the tracks in that area.
All four cars are empty grain hopper cars. The derailed car remained upright.
