(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported in a car fire Friday in Spirit Lake.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to the Steve Balm residence at 1303 Erie Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
Upon arriving, Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says smoke and flames could be seen coming from under the car’s hood and wheel wells. Jorgenson says the car had been started in a driveway to warm up and the driver had gone elsewhere…only to come back to find it on fire.
Jorgenson says a mechanical malfunction is the likely cause. He says it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what happened though. The 1988 Chevrolet was a complete loss.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was at the scene about a half-hour.
