(Spencer)– It didn’t take long for the newest member of the Spencer school board to make his feelings known on the SILO tax Clay county residents will vote on next week.
Sitting in on his first meeting since being elected to the board earlier this month, Dave Schlichemeier Monday said he doesn’t believe the SILO Tax is appropriate for the Spencer schools. He says it’s intended to benefit smaller districts at the expense of larger ones.
Other board members are speaking out in favor of the tax, saying the Spencer School District needs to explore any possible source of revenue it currently doesn’t have.
