(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Middle School has a new Principal.

Superintendent Tim Grieves announced this (Tues.) morning the hiring of Steve Ratzlaff to the position. He comes to the Spirit Lake School District from Iowa City where he’s been Associate Principal at Southeast Junior High School the past eight years.

Ratzlaff, a native of Windom, Minnesota, says he looks forward to coming to Spirit Lake.

He’s been an educator for 24 years. He brings 13 years of administrative experience and 11 years of teaching experience to Spirit Lake.

Ratzloff has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul; a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Drake University; and is currently completing hours for his Educational Specialist Degree at the University of Iowa.

Ratzlaff succeeds Larry Bandy who resigned recently to become an Elementary School Principal in Sioux Falls.
