(Spirit Lake)– Lakes Regional Healthcare has a new ambulance on the road.
LRH Clinical Services Manager Jeff Messerole tells KUOO news it replaces a 1997 model.
Messerole says the new ambulance has some state-of-the-art features, including a keyless ignition that prevents the ambulance from being stolen and keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer…improving patient comfort.
It also features a hepa filtration system that removes dust and allergens from the air; rolled floors and seamless cushions…adding to patient comfort, staff safety and infection control. The new ambulance also includes an LED lighting package, more head room, and a hydraulic lift making it easier to replace large oxygen tanks.
The new ambulance is one of five in Lakes Regional Healthcare’s fleet. Three ambulances are stationed at the hospital in Spirit Lake with one each in Lake Park and Terril.
Messerole says the hospital buys a new ambulance once every three years on a rotation.
